Energy Tower open house event

1700 citizens of Roskilde and other interested parties attended an open house event in connection with the inauguration of the Energy Tower.

Purpose: The Energy Tower has been much maligned by the city’s citizens and in the press mainly because of its appearance, so the purpose was to create a more nuanced picture by explaining what actually happens in the tower and why it is a good thing for the city.

Solution: We organized an open house where we opened the doors to the tower. The framework for the event was a family day with all the trimmings: sodas, hot dogs, ice cream, goodie bags and inflatables. Entertainment was provided by Sebastian Klein and Jacob Riising, and for the daredevils it was possible to rappel down the tower. Information about the tower and its function was provided via tours, and the interest was overwhelming. We had expected around 500 people to show up, but we ended up with 1700 visitors. A great success.

Result: We received a lot of positive feedback for the event on site and afterwards, and the mood in the local press has also been more positive. We were able to give citizens a more nuanced picture – it’s not just an ugly tower, it actually has a positive function. “This was a slightly unusual event in the sense that we didn’t really know how many people would show up. We had been given an assumption of around 500, so we made sure to buy for 700 to be on the safe side. However, we had made a contingency plan that could be put into action if many more turned up, and it’s fair to say that they did. And it worked. So, apart from a few short-lived sausage roll crises, everything was handled and everyone got food and ice cream – and no one had to wait long for food.“
